Donations from local restaurants will provide 275,000 meals to people in need
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With the final tally of donations from the more than 100 restaurants participating in the inaugural Kansas City Restaurant Week event now complete, more than $55,000 has been raised to aid Harvesters - The Community Food Network, in helping to fight hunger in Kansas City.
“Kansas City’s inaugural Restaurant Week was a wonderful success, not only for everyone who loves delicious food, but also for the thousands of people in our community who are at risk of having no food at all,” said Karen Haren, Harvesters’ president and CEO. “Once again, our local restaurant community has stepped up to support Harvesters. Thanks to their dedication and hard work, the Restaurant Week proceeds donated to Harvesters will provide nearly 275,000 meals to people in need.”
More than 100 Kansas City area restaurants took part in Kansas City Restaurant Week from January 22 to January 31, offering special multi-course lunch and/or dinner menus for $15 and/or $30, respectively. Ten percent of the price of these multi-course meals was designated for donation to Harvesters.

Congrats to all the participating restaurants that helped make the event such a success!! I can't wait for 2011 so I can enjoy a good meal all while knowing that those less fortunate will also get a meal. What a great concept!!! Kansas City is blessed to have as many socially minded restaurants as we do. Great job!
